Lois Jane Specht's Obituary
Lois Jane Wilson Specht, 91, formerly of Key West and Kissimmee and most recently at Oak Hammock in Gainesville, FL passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 6, 1922. She spent most of her life in Key West, FL raising her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Julius Carl “Bud” Specht. Lois was the loving mother to and is survived by four daughters: Linda Specht House, Gainesville, FL, Karen (Mitch) McGee, Monroe, GA, Donna (Robert) Specht-Rariden, Houston, TX and Judy (Michael) Wurts, Andover, MA. Also known as Grammie/Grandma, she is survived by 16 much loved grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Lois was a member of the Wives of the Military Order of World Wars (MOWW) and a past- President of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a member of the Nautical Wheelers Square Dance Club in Key West, Gold Coast Camping Dancers in Key West, Kiss-A-Me Squares in Kissimmee, Wagon Wheels in St. Cloud, and Penn Shores Camp-N Squares in Erie, PA. She also loved to travel, knit, crochet, and play bridge. Our Mom will be dearly missed by many.
Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Oak Hammock Piano Room in Gainesville where there will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony in her honor. In lieu of flowers, should friends desire, our mother would appreciate donations being made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Easter Seals, and/or the American Cancer Society.
