Lois Clark Hogg's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beautiful mother, Lois Clark Hogg, age 94, on March 11, 2024 in Naples, Florida. Lois was born to Lonnie and Virginia Clark in Lakeland, Florida on September 21, 1929. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lakeland.
Lois graduated from Lakeland High School, and attended Florida Southern College, where she majored in Business Administration. While attending Florida Southern, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority and a varsity cheerleader in the year the team won the Dixie Conference championships.
Lois married and moved to Haines City, Florida in 1952. While living in Haines City, Lois chose to be a ‘stay at home’ mom, active in the community and a leader at the First Baptist Church. The church gave her an opportunity to serve in the Children’s Department as a teacher, and then she became the Church’s Children’s Department Director.
One of her favorite special interests was gardening and flower arranging. She was known as the “flower whisperer” for all her fabulous plants and stunning floral designs. She was an active member of the Sandspur Garden Club, which led to participating in many flower shows, events and special occasions.
Lois moved to Gainesville, Florida in 2006, to be near her daughter Carolyn Hogg Larue. She spread her special warmth and loving nature as a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Fisherman Bible Study Class, and the United Methodist Women.
Lois was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, James Persons Hogg, and her daughter, Carolyn Hogg LaRue. She is survived by daughter, Jennie Hogg Anderson and son-in-law Gary Anderson, Naples, Florida, son-in-law, Dr. Raymond Larue, Gainesville, Florida, son James Clark Hogg and daughter-in-law Christian Hogg of Wellington, Florida. She loved her four grandchildren: Raymond James Larue, Burke Allen Anderson, Reese Christian Hogg, James Bradley Hogg, and her daughter-in-law Kristina Kates Anderson.
Lois lived a wonderful life that inspired and enriched everyone who knew her.
The family will honor Lois’s life with a private interment in Lakeland, Florida.
