Linda Marie Legare's Obituary
Linda Marie (Clark) Legare, of Archer, Florida passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Elsie Clark of Lowell, Massachusetts, and her sister Maryann Clark Taylor of Gainesville, Florida.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Edmond L. Legare of Archer, Florida and her daughter, Suzanne (Michael) Breder of Hernando, Florida and two grandsons, Noah and Nevan Breder. She is also survived by three siblings: John R. “Bob” (Gayle) Clark of Punta Gorda, Florida, originally from Lowell, Massachusetts, Patricia Kovac of Portland, Oregon, Cindy (Jim) Hunter of Longwood, Florida, and brother-in law Mark Taylor of Gainesville, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Legare’s career in education spanned 42 years. She held a Bachelor’s degree from Lowell State College and two Masters degrees in education from the University of North Florida and the University of Florida. Her career began in western Massachusetts where she taught 6th through 9th grades from 1970 to 1980. She was a teacher at Bronson Elementary School from 1980 through 2012 where she was awarded the Bronson Elementary Teacher of the Year Award in 1989 and 1992 and was the Levy County District Teacher of the Year in 1992. She taught 4th and 5th grades and was a Media Specialist at the school. She was a member of the Levy County Education Association where she served as Vice President and Site Representative.
Since her retirement, Mrs. Legare has enjoyed crochet, travelling, playing cards including many cribbage tournaments with her siblings, and most importantly spending time with her grandsons. Two of her favorite travel destinations were the ocean and the mountains of north Georgia. She was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Gainesville, Florida.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Augustine Catholic Student Center in Gainesville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Grace Marketplace or St. Francis House of Gainesville. Helping the less fortunate was very important to her.
