Linda Lane Connell's Obituary
Linda Lane Connell peacefully passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 87. She was born on April 1, 1938 in Charlottesville, Virginia to W. Howard and Anna Belle Dare Lane.
Linda graduated from Longwood College in 1960, with a degree in Elementary Education. During her children’s early years, she found joy in teaching preschool. An enthusiastic reader, Linda actively shared her passion for literature with her children and grandchildren.
She lived a life defined by kindness, service, deep faith and a profound love for her family and community. A devoted volunteer with the Alachua County Friends of the Library, Linda generously gave 47 years of service. She enjoyed working in the Collectors Corner, as well as promoting literacy and supporting education in her community. Linda was a beloved member of P.E.O. Chapter I celebrating as a “Golden Girl” with 50 years of membership.
Linda’s faith was the foundation of her life. Her love for the Lord guided her actions, shaped her character and brought comfort and strength through all of life’s seasons. She shared her faith not just in words, but in the way she loved, served and encouraged those around her. She lived each day with purpose, gratitude and grace.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband, of 47 years, Richard Grant Connell, Jr., her brother William Howard Lane, Jr. and her parents W. Howard Lane and Anna Belle Dare Lane.
She is survived by her two children: Deborah C. Burchette (Bill) and Richard G. Connell, III (Vickie). Her grandchildren: W. Reed Burchette (Emilee), R. Grant Burchette, Richard A. Connell (Jessica), Justin S. Connell (Crystal), Matthew C. Connell (Brittany), Carrie E. Connell-Serrins (David), Conner R. Connell (Megan). She was also blessed with six great grandchildren. Linda also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her special friend Ross Mackenzie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church at 100 NE1st Street, Gainesville, FL 32601.
