Lester Wayne Robinson's Obituary
Lester Wayne Robinson, age 93 of Gainesville passed away after a brief illness on Thursday, January 13, 2022 and went to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born February 27, 1928 in Melrose, FL to Isaac Cleveland and Maude Devier Robinson.
Lester Robinson served in the United States Navy during World War II. Lester owned and operated Robinson’s Market for over 40 years with his wife Ophelia by his side. He believed in helping others in need and was generous with the community and made sure nobody was without food during the “tough times”. They were both long time members of Grace Baptist Church.
Lester was the last of seven children. He loved God, his children and his family and was loved by many. He was an avid fisherman and spent many days red fishing in the airboat along the Florida coast and in his younger days he and his brothers enjoyed quail hunting all around the Lake Susan area. There were many great memories made there with family and friends. Upon retiring, Lester and Ophelia traveled the country with their motorhome group.
He is survived by children, Mike McQuaig (Cyndie), Sandra Hazen, Debra Robinson, Robby Robinson (Ann) and David Robinson (Mary); niece, Dorian Thrailkill; ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Lester was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ophelia, and his siblings, Eloise Ramsey, Emerald Robinson, Oreon Johnson, Reda Robinson, Bud Robinson and Gene Robinson.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Grandsons Claude McQuaig, Brian Jones, Keith McQuaig, Robert Robinson, Mitchell Robinson, and Greg Robinson will be pall bearers..
Burial will follow the service at Forest Meadows East Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 7100 NW 39th Ave, Gainesville, FL 32606.
