Leslie Carolyn Nesmith passed away peacefully Monday January 8th, 2024. Carolyn was born to Clarence and Ruby Campbell in Plant City, Florida on July 9th, 1931. She graduated from Plant City High School then attended Florida State University and was a member of the FSU circus.
Carolyn married the love of her life, Art Nesmith in 1953 and together they raised 5 children. While Art was practicing medicine Carolyn was busy with her children. This was followed by a move to Augusta, Georgia during the Vietnam War then back to Sanford and finally on to Gainesville where she spent the rest of her life. In addition to organizing all of these moves and raising her family, she was a member of the Gainesville Junior League and loved to play golf and tennis. Traveling with her family and many good friends from Sanford and Gainesville was something she always looked forward to. She was a life long Gator fan. She is survived by her son Rick (Connie), daughter Patsy (Breck), daughter Sue, and daughter Marsha (Mac). She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren . During her last years, Carolyn was cared for by many people but special thanks go out to Thelma Perry and Sue Singerhoff. Carolyn’s service will be private.
