Leonard E. Sherouse Sr.'s Obituary
Leonard E. Sherouse Sr., age 80 of Gainesville, passed away peacefully Friday, August 10, 2018 in North Florida Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones and friends. He was born February 2, 1938 in Williston, Florida to Guy Wesley Sherouse, Sr. and Della Pearl Faulkner Sherouse. Mr. Sherouse grew up in Gainesville and attended Gainesville High School. He was the owner of Sherouse Plastering for over 40 years, until his retirement in 2000. He was a collector of guns, knives and coins and loved Harley Davidsons. Mr. Sherouse was the King of Arm Wrestling and The Godfather of Plastering.
Mr. Sherouse was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kerr Sherouse in 2014; sister, Lottie Bee Clyatt; brothers, GW Sherouse, Jr. and Oscar Sherouse and son-in-law, Brian R. Gillespie.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Sherouse Glisson (Randall, Sr.), Leonard Sherouse, Jr. (Nancy), Julie Sherouse Gillespie and David Sherouse (Suzette); sisters, Evelyn Willis and Margaret Smith; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and his beloved dog Bear a/k/a Heiffer.
Funeral Services for Mr. Sherouse will be held Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:30 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with his good friend Carl Boettcher officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park East. A Celebration of Mr. Sherouse’s life will be held at The Gainesville Garden Club with appetizers being served at 4:30 p.m. and dinner beginning upon the families' arrival. The family will receive friends Friday, August 17, 2018, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
