Leona "Maggi" Singer's Obituary
Leona “Maggi” Singer, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at the Plaza Health and Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on June 30, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York, to Abraham and Sarah Maglin.
Leona lived a very full and active life. She was a wonderful, loving mother and doting grandmother. Leona was a registered nurse for 45 years in New York until she retired and moved to Alachua, Florida. Once in Florida, she played a huge part in her two grandsons' lives and embraced the role as their “Nana”.
Leona adored children and really enjoyed helping people. She volunteered at W.W. Irby Elementary School from 1996 until 2017 when she was diagnosed with early dementia. She loved working with the children at the school, as well as assisting the teachers in their classrooms.
Leona is survived by her daughter and son-in-law (Ellen and Roy Carlisle) and her two grandsons (Kyle and Cory).
She will be missed and will live in our hearts forever.
