Lee Margaret Abbott's Obituary
Lee Margaret Abbott
After a good life and a brief illness, Lee Abbott left us last week. She was born near Akron, Ohio to John Axel and Ruth Marie Parsons, joining her loving older sister Bernice. A graduate of Muskingum College, Lee also earned a master’s degree from Case - Western Reserve.
She married Thomas B. Abbott after his World War II U.S. Army Infantry service in North Africa and Italy. They moved to Gainesville, living in FlaVet housing, while he earned his Ph.D. in Speech Pathology & Audiology. Moving to California and then Texas, the family was happy to return to Gainesville in 1963. She taught at Sante Fe Community College and worked with M.M. Parrish Coldwell-Banker. She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and a member of the P.E.O. Chapter AP sisterhood. As a life-long Democrat, she looked forward to voting to restore order to the country in the elections of 2018 and 2020.
Survivors include her children, John and Amy; their spouses; three grandchildren; and many good friends, work associates, P.E.O. sisters, and the The Girls Who Lunch.
A family service with interment was held at Holy Trinity last week. The family thanks the staff of Oak Hammock at the U.F. for their care. In lieu of donations, in Lee’s honor, take time today to be kind to someone you meet. She'd like that.
