Laythen E. Dykes' Obituary
Laythen E. Dykes, age 85 of St. Augustine, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1939 in Gainesville, Florida to E. W. and Mattie Standridge Dykes.
Laythen loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and an avid CB/Ham radio operator.
He is survived by daughters, Renee Boone (Steve) and Regina Schiavone (Carmine); grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie, Ryan; great grandchildren, Seth, Maiya, Karli, Gavin, and his brother, Wilbur Dampier.
He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 60 years, Thelma Wilson Dykes, his sister, Joanne and brother, Bailous.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 3612 NW 177th Avenue, Gainesville.
