Lawrence Wilkov's Obituary
A private service was held to celebrate the life of Lawrence Wilkov of Gainesville. He is survived by his loving wife, Elinor and three daughters, Jane Wilkov, Nancy Wilkov and Beth Rosenblat, seven adoring grandchildren and his sons-in-law, Bruce Winston and Paul Silverman, and was preceded in death by his son-in-law Benjamin Rosenblat.
Larry was born in Brooklyn, New York and played college basketball at Columbia University. He served with honor in the United States Navy and went on to a successful career in business.
His family warmly remembers his kindness, unmistakable sense of dry humor and sound judgment. His grandchildren say that no matter how many years went by, he could always be counted on to give just the right advice. He was well known for his gifts of flashlights, batteries, snow scrapers and tire pressure checkers – anything that could protect his family and keep them safe. He passed on to his children and grandchildren his honesty, his appreciation for the simplest things, his patience, and his conviction that working hard was its own reward.
In the spirit of Larry’s desire to care for those in need and his love of McDonald’s coffee, he would be pleased if contributions were made in his honor to the North Central Florida Ronald McDonald House. Warm remembrances will be shared on Friday, November 14th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the home of his daughter Beth Rosenblat of Gainesville.
