Laurine May Stephens' Obituary
Laurine May Stephens, 73, longtime resident of Hawthorne, Florida, died Sunday, April 2, 2017 in the Bon Secours Nursing Home, St. Petersburg, following a long illness.
Mrs. Stephens was born in Haysi, Virginia on June 12, 1943 to the late James and Stella Mullins. As a young lady, she moved to Hawthorne, where she’s resided ever since. She worked as a waitress for the Fried Chicken Factory from the first day of business until the last, a span of over 30 years. Mrs. Stephens enjoyed being on the water and tending to her garden. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eva Stephens Butterfield.
Survivors include; a daughter, Jeanette Worrell (Rick Brendle) of St. Petersburg; three sons, Frankie (Rachel) Stephens of Denise, West Virginia, Randy Stephens of Gainesville, Billy Stephens, of Hawthorne; brothers, Bruce Mullins, and Charles (Starla) Mullins, both of Hawthorne and Larry (Arbutis) Mullins, of Pensacola; sisters, Helen Raulerson and Angie (Greg) Hunter, both of Hawthorne, Sally Daughtry of Orange Heights and Georgia Crocker, of Melbourne. Fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Hawthorne, 301 South at Lake Avenue, with Rev. Roger Siter, officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorne Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 5 to 7 P. M., at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 3050 1st Avenue South, St. Petersburg, FL 33712.
