Laurie Lue McGuire's Obituary
Laurie Lue McGuire of Gainesville died on Saturday, September 23, 2017 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mrs. McGuire was born on May 27, 1947 in Montpelier, Ohio, and moved to Gainesville in 1967. She had a tireless exuberance for life, reflected in the energy she devoted to family and friends and her raring-to-go love for travel and cruises.
She often spent her vacations on cruises to various parts of the world with her soulmate Robert McGuire and other loved ones.
With her red hair and broad smile, Mrs. McGuire was the proverbial ball of fire. A “feisty redhead,” she liked to say. She brightened every room she walked into, the spirits of those around her and her workplaces over the years. She was retired from ECT as an administrative assistant, and also had worked at Clayton Johnston law firm and other Gainesville companies.
She was dedicated to her large circle of friends and family, especially her beloved Robert and her seven grandchildren. She also loved animals, gardening and food. She embodied the notion of making the most of every moment, thriving especially when surrounded by her loved ones. They encircled her during her illness. Even then, she managed to share her spark with her grandchildren and many others. They will keep that feisty red spark burning always.
Her survivors include her husband, Robert; her brother, Jeff Pearce; her children, Stephanie Escue-Milch (Eric), Jeffrey McGuire and Kathleen Hampson (Keith); and her grandchildren, Evan Milch, Elijah Milch, Christopher Milch, Corrigan McGuire, Owen McGuire, Eliana Gallagher and Samuel Gallagher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Krusell and William Pearce.
A service in her memory is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville. Private burial services will be held at a later date.
