Laurel Jean Stowell's Obituary
Laurel Jean Stowell, 93, resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Thursday, April 13, 2017, following a long illness.
Mrs. Stowell was born August 16, 1923 in Ortonville, Michigan to the late Harold and Julia Wright. She lived for many years in Williston, where she was an active member of the Woman’s Club and the Williston Art Club, where she spent time making teddy bears and caps for the children at Shands Hospital. Mrs. Stowell moved to Gainesville in 2008, and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. She was married to Mr. Kenneth Stowell, to whom she was wed for over 58 years until his death in 2009.
She is survived by three daughters, Jackie (Dick) Slagle, Wrightsville, PA, Connie (Ken) Townsend, of White Lake, MI, and Judy (William) Shuman, of Gainesville; one son, Kenneth (Cheryl) Stowell, of Gainesville; one brother, Harold Wright, of Lapeer, MI. Nine grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren also survive.
