Laura Casmus' Obituary
Laura Casmus left this world peacefully in the comfort of her home in Gainesville, Florida, on the morning of March 25, 2025. She was 70 years old. Born on November 2, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Laura was the daughter of Dr. Albert J. Sneed and Elnora H. Sneed, both of whom preceded her in death.
Laura graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a degree in Health and Physical Education. She went on to become a dedicated mother and wife, always putting the needs of her family first. She and John D. Casmus shared 39 years of marriage, building a life together and raising three children.
Laura's legacy lives on in her children: Jonathan and Jacob Casmus, and Katy Hostman (Joe). She also leaves behind her adored grandson, Logan Hostman. Laura is survived by her beloved sister, Rebecca Nix (Glenn), and her nieces, Natalie Nix, Morgan Costigan (Ken), and Jenny Casmus, along with her nephew, Lee Nix (Christine).
Known for her beauty, free spirit, generosity, and creativity, Laura touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She will be remembered for her remarkable strength of character, never afraid to stand up for what she believed in, her devotion to her family, and the love she gave so warmly.
A private family service will be held to celebrate Laura’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to the American Heart Association in her memory.
Laura’s love and spirit will remain with us always. She will be missed, and memories of her forever cherished.
