Larry James Johnson's Obituary
Larry James Johnson passed away peacefully, after a long illness, surrounded by family on February 3, 2026, at age 82. He was born in Hawthorne, Florida to the late Ferris G. Johnson, Sr. and Fannie Lee Johnson and had been a long-time resident of Hawthorne. He graduated from Hawthorne High School in 1961 and attended Central Florida Junior College in Ocala and served 4 years in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Annette Dugger Johnson, and his two sons Steve Johnson (Rebekah) and Tim Johnson (Sandra). He was also grandpa to five grandchildren, Savanna, Ryan, Madison, Paisley, and Taylor Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferris and Fannie Johnson and brothers Ferris G. Johnson, Jr. (Juanita) and Ronald F. Johnson.
Larry was a devoted Christian and enjoyed playing the piano and keyboard, as well as working in children’s church for the various churches he served. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Keystone Heights for many years. He was employed by Western Electric, North Florida Regional Hospital, and retired from UF Health (Shands) Hospital after 20 years of service in the Engineering department.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 10-11 A.M. at Trinity Baptist Church, 3716 SE State Road 21, in Keystone Heights, Florida. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Brandon Denmark officiating. Interment will be at Hawthorne Cemetery.
