Mr. Larry Thurston Henry's Obituary
Mr. Larry Thurston Henry, 67, resident of Hawthorne, Florida, died Monday, July 20, 2015 at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Henry was a native of Lebanon, Tennessee, born on August 17, 1947 to the late Isaac Thurston and Grace Kathryn Henry. At a young age Mr. Henry joined the United States Marine Corps, serving as a combat veteran in Vietnam. He received three Purple Heart Medals for wounds received during combat, along with two Presidential Unit Citation awards. After his service, he began a career in construction and later specialized as a master electrician, owning and operating Lake Area Qualified Electric, until his health forced his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of AMVETS. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Keystone Heights.
He is survived by two sons, Phillip Craig (Theresa Peters) Henry and Wayne (Robert) Henry-Green; his former wife and mother of his children, Mary Henry; grandchildren, Jimmy Craig Henry, Deborah Peters, Douglas Peters, Nicole Henry and Nathaniel Henry; sisters, April Sontag and Vicky Carter and one brother, Peter Henry.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 12:00 P.M., in the Trinity Baptist Church, 3716 FL-21, Keystone Heights, FL, with Dr. James Peoples, church pastor, officiating. His final resting place will be in the Jacksonville National Cemetery.
