Landon Rogers' Obituary
Landon Howard Rogers, 18, passed away November 19, 2015.
He gave his all on the track. He enjoyed ROTC because he channeled all his athletic ability and drive into a cause with a purpose. But this was not the ultimate purpose that he lived for. He found his strength and life in God above.
He was an athlete—football, lacrosse, and even soccer. An MVP goes to Landon Rogers. He did not need it, or even want it to be quite frank. He pushed himself to the maximum because it was the right thing to do. Commitment was not a question.
He was a musician. The guitar, singer, tuba, banjo and piano. He brought the room to life. Almost everyday he would bring out his guitar and sing about the love of the God Almighty, that he lived and showed to everyone around him. This is how he expressed himself.
He knew what right and wrong was. He knew how to treat people. He demonstrated Christ’s love through forgiveness and kindness. He knew how to work hard. He knew how to lead with every action he took and word he spoke.
He is survived by his parents, Howard and Cheryl Rogers, sisters, Hannah Rogers of Colorado Springs, and Lauren Rogers, of Gainesville; grandparents, Doris and Carl Childers, of Leesburg, and Rollin and Shirley Bacon, of Glasgow, KY, and Ronald and Susie Rogers, of Coal Grove, Ohio; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was mine. He was ours. He is God’s.
