I wanted to share a quick story that sums up my friendship with the great and greatly missed Kevin Shortelle. My wife and I were in the Dallas airport killing a couple hours before our flight to Gainesville. Kevin recognized us amongst the thousands of other folks in the terminal. He hunted us down as we wandered the airport, greeted us warmly, and wanted a full download on our family. Once he figured out we were boarding the same flight he immediately got silent for a moment, became almost embarrassed, and then quickly starting explaining that he had been upgraded to 1st class for this flight. He wanted us to know that this was not typically how he traveled and he did not pay extra for the upgrade. He also told us that he was unaware of the upgrade when he packed his trademark Knights of Columbus backpack. He was obviously not comfortable be anything less than modesty and didn't want the upgrade to reflect poorly on his beloved Knights. Kevin was always kind, always welcoming, forever modest, and a true Christian gentlemen! It is a blessing to know that he has been welcomed into an eternity in Heaven by our Heavenly Father. The Huene family misses our friend Kevin and we pray for healing and peace for all of his family. Melissa & Ed Huene.
