Kevin Reynolds Kirkwood's Obituary
Kevin Reynolds Kirkwood of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on July 18, 2024, just short of his 82nd birthday.
Kevin was born to John Lenox and Gertrude Powers Kirkwood on July 30, 1942, in Westchester County, NY. He was raised in Yonkers with his two brothers and sister.
He married his high school sweetheart, Elaine and relocated to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1966. Eventually they settled in Coral Springs in 1977 with their two daughters, Kristine and Jacqueline. Kevin spent 40 years in the automotive industry as the business owner of Southern Automotive Products. Kevin was self-taught, extremely knowledgeable, well-known and well-respected in the industry and to many in the South Florida area. He was a man of great character and integrity. His family always came first. He was a friend to everyone he met. Kevin was the trusted advisor to all and the one everyone sought for advice. Both he and Elaine retired to Gainesville in 2010 to be closer to family. During his retirement years he continued to work helping others with various home construction projects. He and Elaine also spent their time volunteering with the American Cancer Society, something that was important to him being a survivor himself.
He is predeceased by his brother, James Kirkwood and sister, Lois Beckwith.
He is survived by his wife Elaine, children Kristine Simone (Dan) of Brentwood, CA, Jacqueline Knowles, (Bart), of Gainesville, brother John Kirkwood of Oakbrook, IL, and grandchildren Daniel, Cale, Ella, Reese and Luke.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at Williams-Thomas West area 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, FL 32669. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
