I thought I would look up Kathy in Alachua on a upcoming trip to Florida so googled to see if she had moved. Devastating to learn I will never see her again.
Kathy helped me train my Arabian mare Tenacity. She was the most patient, kind and knowledgeable person I had ever spent time with around horses. I lived in Alachua and spent so much time at her house and Kathy always made me feel welcome. I remember so well, the day that picture was taken of Kathy blowing bubbles and that little girls laugh. So sorry to learn of her passing and my love and prayers go out to the family. Kathy certainly made this world a better place and I feel so fortunate to have met her and had her in my life.

I met Kathy almost 40 years ago when she purchased my seven year old half arab. She called him a diamond in the rough and helped him to grow into an awesome horse. I would run into her over the years at different horse events. I always enjoyed our short visits. She was a wonderful person and will be missed.

I have fond memories of Kathy leading our mounted drill team, helping us all become better riders, training our horses to do maneuvers, and traveling to shows with us. Kathy's knowledge of horse behavior was great. She was like the Cesar Millan of horses. I recall at time when she told me to make my horse, Joker, move sideways and after my lame attempt she jumped on my horse and found out what made Joker a good safe horse also made her bad. Joker would not move. Finally she got down off the horse and poked her with the handle end of a crop and finally got her to move.

Another great moment with Kathy was during a drill team practice she told my husband, a large animal vet, that my horse looked pregnant and he said no way. That was February and in May 1995, on Mothers Day, she gave birth to a colt. We had to do DNA testing to find the father.

There is a saying that reminds me of Kathy: "I wasn't born in a barn...but I got there as fast as I could"

Kathy was an amazing person. She will be missed greatly. I am so thankful that I was her friend. Kathy instructed me and gave me the knowledge to become a better horseback rider. I just loved being around her and hearing her telling her stories of all the horses she trained and just about any that had to do with a horse. Rest in peace my friend.

Kathy will be sorely missed. She came to my home for years, training myself and my boarder. My lesson would frequently deviate more towards girlfriend conversations. Kathy was so knowledgeable about everything! I was so impressed with her intelligence, compassion and strength. Much love to her family. She will always be in my mind.
