Katherine Andrews Pernini's Obituary
Katherine Andrews Pernini, 83, passed away peacefully May 25, 2026 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. She was born and raised in Miami, FL where she met her beloved “Ritchie” Richard Pernini. They were married 56 years, raised a big family, and did everything together. Katherine was a bookkeeper, working alongside her husband in his service company. Her family was important to her and she loved them dearly.
She was an active member of the Gainesville Catholic Church Community and had served as a leader of Children of the Light Prayer Group. She was an avid reader and a very creative and talented artist. Her favorite hobby was drawing or painting. She was also an excellent cook, and she and her husband always opened their home to family, friends, or anyone who had nowhere to go at holidays. Katherine was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She will be missed deeply, remembered fondly, and loved always.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy W and Arthur C Andrews; her husband, Richard; one son , James; a grandson, Matthew; and a granddaughter, Tiffany.
She is survived by a brother, Roland Andrews(Wanda) of Greensboro SC; a sister, Nancy Bowen (William) of Alachua, FL; 4 daughters, Rebecca Teague (Terry) of Cape Gerardeau, MO; Tessa Pernini of Gainesville, FL; Christina Pernini of Lake City, FL; Juliana Sakai (Steven) of Gainesville, FL; 3 sons, Daniel Pernini, Robert Pernini, and Antony Pernini, all of Hawthorne, FL; 3 nephews; 14 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Ave, Gainesville, with Fr. Augustine Nwagbara as celebrant. A vigil will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church.
