Katherine Louise Haas, September 15, 1945- August 3, 2015
Katherine passed away at North Florida Regional Medical Center, Gainesville, FL,
at 7 PM on August 3, 2015. Her family and friends were with her.
Katherine’s life was filled with friends and hilarious tales of her many adventures living in Mexico, New Orleans, and Washington, DC, where she pursued doctorial studies in psychology at Georgetown University. She had resided in Gainesville, FL at The Village since 2012.
Her generosity and kindness to friends, families, and new acquaintances was boundless. She was an avid reader. A dry humor and whimsical bent lead to a continual exploration of new interests, from gourmet cooking to fancy guppies. She was truly a delight to all who knew her.
Katherine was preceded in death by her parents Claudine and Raoul Haas of Chicago and Dunedin, FL.
Surviving relatives include her sister Stephanie Haas and her brother-in-law Jeffrey Hillman of Gainesville; and long time companion Steven Suomi of Washington, DC.
At Katherine’s request, there will be no memorial service. Those wishing to leave a remembrance are asked to contribute to their local humane society or to E.T. York Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606
