Katharine Pauline Bruning's Obituary
Katharine Pauline Bruning, known as Kathy to her friends and family, was born on April 26, 1959, in Lochloosa, Florida. Sadly, she passed away on January 14, 2025. She leaves behind her adoring husband, Christopher Bruning, who was with her until her final moments; her two loving daughters, Katharine Elizabeth Ricks (Erik) and Kristen Pauline Bruning (John); and her three amazing grandchildren, Dalton, Nathan, and Fayth. She is also survived by her parents, Edgar and Pauline Cassels; her sister and best friend, Rebecca “Becky” Cassels; her niece and nephew, Rebecca Michelle Love Copeland (Jared) and Stephen Edgar Cassels, and great nieces and nephews, Brycen, Kylie, Raegan, Madalyne and Rhett; her brothers-in-law Henry Bruning (Elaine) and Brian Bruning (Sue), and niece and nephews, Steven, Tina Neal ( Jeremy) and Michael and great niece and nephew, Lyla and Lliam. She is predeceased in death by her in-laws, Henry and Carol Bruning, nephew, Brian Bruning, Jr. and great nephew Bryon Neal.
Kathy’s kindness was seen in everything that she did. She loved to feed and nurture the ones that she loved and she was her family’s biggest cheerleader. During her career, she was proud to be a civil servant working for the Alachua County Code Enforcement Office for 20+ years and valued the friendships she made during her time there. She loved to travel and spend time with her husband, and her laugh was contagious. She will truly be missed by all the lives that she touched during her lifetime.
The family welcomes anyone who would like to honor this amazing woman’s memory to the Lochloosa Community Church, 16503 SE 210th Terrace, Hawthorne, Florida 32640, for a memorial on Saturday, February 1, 2025, beginning at 10:30 am, followed by a Repass in the fellowship hall. If you would like to bring a dish or dessert to share, please contact Michelle at (352) 278 – 5476.
