Karl Wilfred Kepner's Obituary
Karl Wilfred Kepner, age 77 of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015 in Select Specialty Hospital. Born November 12, 1937 to Leon Charles and Veda McCleary Kepner and raised on a dairy farm in Hartford, Ohio. Attended undergraduate school on a dairy technology scholarship and ultimately earned three degrees from Ohio State. Accepted first faculty job at Purdue University. Moved from West Lafayette, Indiana to Gainesville forty years ago where he worked for the University of Florida as a Professor of Agri-Business Management. Mr. Kepner was an avid skier, sports enthusiast, collector, art patron and cancer survivor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Higgins Kepner. He is survived by his children, Karla Stith of Jacksonville, NC, Kevin Kepner of Gainesville, FL and Brian (Sonya) Kepner of Lake City, FL; brother, Peter D. Kepner ; grandchildren, Michaeline, Brenna, Ashley, Shellie, Courtney, Faith, Kylie, Chloe, Abigail, Kaleb and Liberty and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2015, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 18, 2015, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at GALLOWAY-ONSTOTT FUNERAL HOME in Hartford, Ohio. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hartford United Methodist Church in Hartford, Ohio. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Sharon, Pennsylvania.
