Karen Baldwin Whitney's Obituary
Karen Baldwin Whitney, age 68, of Gainesville went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the E. T. York Hospice Care Center. She was born September 14, 1948 in Moline, Illinois to G. Dean and Opal Pauline Summers Baldwin. She retired from the Accounting Department at the University of Florida Foundation. She loved nature, the outdoors, and sports.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Opal Baldwin, and her niece, Tracy Michelle Williams. She is survived by her husband, John K. Whitney; children, David E. Ogg, Jr, Jennifer Whitney Rivera, and Erin Whitney Posey; sister, Sharon K. Williams; brothers, Gary K. Baldwin and Larry D. Baldwin; seven grandchildren, David and Kaitlyn Ogg, Isabella, Amaya, and Marcos Rivera, Sonaya and Jordan Posey; one great granddaughter, Gracie Lynn Ogg, and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Karen’s Life will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Lung Cancer Foundation of America, 15 S. Franklin Street New Ulm, MN 56073, or to Haven Hospice.
