Kal Rosenberg passed away, November 11, 2014, losing a long battle with kidney disease. Kal was born in 1935 and raised in the Bronx. After a troubled and abusive childhood he went on to graduate phi beta kappa from City College o Read Obituary
I didn't know Uncle Kal all that well. I came into the family relatively late. He like to fancy himself a curmudgeon...cept he wasnt always a bad-tempered, difficult, or cantankerous guy... the very definition of curmudgeon. He, like my dad, put on a great front (from what I could see), but had a heart of GOLD.
Totally random, and very non-curmudgeonly, Kal called Sue, his niece, a few weeks ago as we were driving to Santa Fe NM. Sue's cell phone rings while we were out in the middle of nowhere new Mexico. Its Uncle Kal. He wanted to tell us he was sick and wanted us to come to a early 80th birthday party in December. Sue said OK. and he capped it off with one of the greatest quotes I have ever heard. He said "Sue, I want you to know I'm proud to have been your uncle".
