June A Smith's Obituary
June A. Smith passed away on June 17, 2021, at Oak Hammock at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida.
June was born in Passaic, New Jersey on April 18, 1931, and was 90 at the time of her passing. She attended Middlesex College in New Jersey, majoring in accounting. She worked as a bookkeeper for a real estate company in Metuchen, New Jersey. While living in New Jersey she spent her time in various community service areas such as volunteering at JFK Hospital and Point Pleasant Hospital in addition to chairing fundraising projects. She also volunteered patterning for disabled children.
June moved to Gainesville Country Club in 1983 and in 2010 moved to Oak Hammock at the University of Florida. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, member of the Gainesville Country Club, past president of the Lady Gator Golf Boosters as well as a member of the Gator Men’s Basketball and Football Booster organizations. In addition she was a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. She traveled to over 34 countries numerous times over the years.
She was married to Charlie, and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. They were high school sweethearts.
She is survived by her loving family, husband, Charlie; daughters, Terri Browning (Larry) and Lynn Quartararo (Ray); grandson, Kris Browning; granddaughter, Kelly Wehner (Brian); grandsons, Michael Quartararo and Matthew Quartararo and one great granddaughter, Abby June Wehner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, a reception will be held in the Upper Commons at Oak Hammock from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oak Hammock Benevolent Fund.
