Bertrand Russell said that "Western philosophy begins with Thales." One of my first bits of information about Julie was that she had named her VW Bug, Thales. I never knew why, and never asked. But I still wonder. I would guess it was a reflection of the philosopher within her. Julie was my first true love. We met while working at First National Bank in Louisville. Even though our relationship did not endure as long as some, it did have its good qualities and good times. I always remembered her soft laugh, her shy smile. She was very sharp and intelligent. She also had excellent parents and a very good group of brothers and sister-in-laws. I have not seen her in more years than I would care to calculate. She will always hold a special place in my mind and memory. I know the remaining members of her family and her friends feel the loss of her. I bet she still had that soft laugh and her shy smile. I raise my glass to you Julie....this one's for You.
