Joye Pence Boone's Obituary
On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a long illness, Joye Pence Boone peacefully departed this life for heaven’s bright mansions and her homecoming with family and friends. Her daughter, Penny Arnau, was lovingly by her side.
Born on March 24, 1946, in Gainesville, Florida, Joye was the cherished daughter of Johnny and Dorothy Bussard Boone Sr. A proud graduate of Gainesville High School, she launched a successful career in professional modeling with the Modeling Connection Agency. During the 1960’s, she also worked as a bookkeeper at Royal Crown Cola in Gainesville and captivated audiences as a Can-Can dancer at the old Six Gun Territory in Ocala, Fl. Later, she even was a stand-in for a renowned actress Cloris Leachman during one of her productions for the Walt Disney Corporation.
Joye’s zest for life was reflected in her many passions: she adored horses (and owned one herself), had a spirited appreciation for fast cars and was a proud member of the Gainesville Corvette Club. That love of speed carried her to the roar of the NASCAR races, where she felt right at home.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, William Paddon; and her parents, Johnny and Dorothy Bussard Boone Sr.
Joye is survived by her devoted daughter, Penny Arnau (Steve), as well as her many dear friends who will honor her memory by carrying forward her spirit of love, kindness, and resilience. Though she may be gone from our sight, Joye’s presence lingers in our hearts and minds- a legacy of warmth and grace that will endure.
We honor her life with deep appreciation and love. We find comfort in these words from 2 Timothy 4:7-8:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness…”
The family will have a private Celebration of Life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in honor of Joye’s generous heart.
