Joyce Martin's Obituary
Joyce Martin of Newberry, FL passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on May 24, 2021, at 100 years old. Joyce was born in Bell, Florida on December 12, 1920, to Alonzo Roberts and Anna Waters Roberts.
Joyce had four sisters (Maxine, Mav VeMoi, Christina, and Eileen) and six brothers (Wendal, Donald, Gilbert, Clifton, Clyde, and Coburn) who all preceded her in death.
Joyce married Chap Martin on June 26, 1937. They had six children: Jerry, Anna, Edna, Tommy, Betty, and John.
Joyce was a homemaker. She loved cooking, gardening, church, soap operas, crossword puzzles, and playing games. Joyce raised her kids in Gainesville, Florida, and Albany, Georgia. After her husband, Chap’s, retirement they returned to Bell, Florida, and built a home on her family land where she lived until she was 92. She then moved to live with her daughter, Anna of Newberry, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chap Martin, daughter Betty Martin Fritz, son-in-law Maynard Poore, granddaughter Amanda Martin, and great-granddaughter Taylor Martin.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Martin, and wife Sue of Sharpsburg, GA, Anna Martin Poore of Newberry, Fl, Edna Martin Ingham and her husband Bruce of Niceville, FL, Tommy Martin and his wife Kathi of Gainesville, FL, John Martin and his wife Teresa of Crane Hill, AL.,
She is survived by her descended grandchildren, Ken Martin, Karen (Martin) Stacey, Jennifer (Poore) Shriver, Deborah (Poore) Westbrook, Ken Doss, Eric Doss, Patrick Doss, Pat Martin, Joy (Martin) White, Christine Woods, and Josh Martin.
Joyce was blessed with an exceptionally large extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
They will miss her dearly.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 29, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Jennings Lake Cemetery, 2130 SW 47th Lane, Bell, FL.
