Joyce Graham Borges' Obituary
Joyce Graham Borges, age 87, passed away June 12, 2015, at home with her family by her side after an 8 year battle with cancer. Born September 19, 1927, in Stockport, England, to Hugh James and Mary Graham, she lived in Tampa for 62 years. In 1955, she married Tampa native Eddie A. Borges at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tampa. For the last 5 years they have lived in Newberry, Florida, with their oldest daughter Sharon Talaski and her husband Alan. On May 28th, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their daughters.
Joyce was the ultimate homemaker who devoted herself to her family. Her life was centered around her three daughters as they were growing up. She thoroughly enjoyed many trips to England to visit family and friends. As grandchildren came along, she spent many hours enjoying having them for sleepovers, babysitting, or walking around Busch Gardens.
Always the proper English lady, she wore her pearls everywhere she went, loved a good “cuppa” tea and a nice chat. Throughout her battle she was an inspiration to her family, always keeping a “stiff upper lip” and a beautiful smile for everyone. She was the most caring and loving wife, mother and Nana, who will be missed more than can be imagined.
Survived by her husband Eddie A. Borges; daughter Sharon Talaski, husband Alan and son Jacob; daughter Deborah Borges and sons Bradley and Brandon Haskins; and daughter Susan Charlow, husband Weston and daughters Emily and Natalie. She is also survived by many family members in England, including three brothers Bernard, Terry and Russell Graham. Preceded in death by sister May Haddad.
Memorial Services will be conducted Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
Thank you to Florida Cancer Specialists of Tampa and Gainesville, and Haven Hospice of Chiefland for all their care and support.
