Josh was born in Gainesville, Florida on July 7, 1980, to William (Bill) and Teresa (Tery) Tallent. When Josh was 5yrs old, his family moved to Lakeland, Florida where he was raised. He trusted the Lord at the age of 7 and always had a tender heart to serve the Lord.
Josh graduated from Lake Gibson High School. He continued his education at Florida Southern College where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing. He worked as a 911 operator for 10 years. After moving back to Gainesville, he attended church with his parents, where he met Jennifer. They did many group activities together and then one day they fell in love and were married in 2007. Once married, Josh worked in sales for a publishing company and in banking. As newlyweds they joined Gainesville Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL. Two and a half years after marriage, their daughter Hannah was born. While at Gainesville Baptist Church, Josh and Jennifer served with the youth, the children, and music ministries. In 2014, God called Josh to be a preacher of the gospel. He then attended and graduated from the Gainesville School of the Bible, with a Bible Certificate.
In 2016, God called Josh and his family to Trinity Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas under Pastor Steven Giordano. He served there for two years until the Lord called him to pastor the Bethel Baptist Church of Grapevine, Texas. The Lord used Pastor Tallent to see many souls saved and grow in their knowledge of the Bible. He was a faithful servant in Making Christ Known in the Grapevine community for seven years. Josh touched so many lives and made a huge impact for Christ to everyone he met. His sense of humor and love for life was so contagious.
He enjoyed playing golf, going to the gun range, BBQ grilling, and most recently fishing. He also was an avid Florida Gator fan. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his church family. Most of all he loved serving and growing in knowledge of His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His favorite Bible verse was Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
