Joseph Michael Preston's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts and much love that the family of Joseph “Joe” Michael Preston shares the news of his passing.
He was a cherished husband and loving Dad, brother, Gramps, Great Gramps, friend and veteran who left us on July 18, 2024, just shy of his 80th birthday. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland but was a longtime resident of Hawthorne, Florida.
Joe was an avid bowler for many years and when he could no longer bowl, he lived vicariously though his son on the PBA tour. He was not a singer but loved watching his daughter perform with the Gainesville Harmony Show Chorus and her quartet “On the Edge”. He enjoyed his weekly and monthly poker games with friends and family and going to casinos with his wife and friends. Joe was a true animal lover, both domestic and wildlife.
To know Joe was to love him despite his short comings. He was the type of person that would support and help his family and friends, of which he had many, he was quite the talker, so he never met a stranger.
His family and friends are especially grateful for the memories he helped create over the years and he will truly be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years, Angie Preston, his daughter, Chanda Morris (Steve); son, Mike Preston (Lian); brothers, Kenny Preston (Dave), Dennis Preston (Suzanne), Larry Preston (Debbie); sister, Phyllis Preston, five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren with one on the way.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, July 26, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Hawthorne, 22205 SE 69th Ave. Hawthorne. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m.
