Joseph Alonzo Malphurs Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph Alonzo Malphurs, Sr., age 79 of Yankeetown, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at his home. He was born May 5, 1939 in Gainesville, Florida to Philip Alonzo and Bessie Lee Brannin Malphurs. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from Santa Fe College as a Vocational Mechanics Instructor after more than 30 years. He loved fishing, repairing watches, and he especially enjoyed being on the river.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Carla. He is survived by his three children, Dianne Naworensky, Joseph “Toby” Malphurs, and Philip Malphurs; siblings, William Malphurs, Martha Anderson, Betty Jean Smith, and Juanita Wagner, nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held Friday, November 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in Newberry Cemetery, 25901 SW 15th Avenue, Newberry. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
