Joseph M. Apfl's Obituary
Joseph M. Apfl, age 78 of Orlando, died Friday, May 20, 2016 in Gainesville at Shands at the University of Florida Hospital. He was born March 21, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Joseph S. and Rose Sablich Apfl. He was raised in Philadelphia and was a graduate of Penn State. Joseph worked as a master draftsman for Westinghouse/Siemens. In 1980 he moved to Orlando, Florida with Westinghouse and retired with them. He was a volunteer at Orange County Courthouse for over 10 years.
Joseph was a car enthusiast and he loved to drag race. He was a founding member of County Corvette Association in Media, Pennsylvania. He also enjoyed flying his plane, travel, and making wooden model replicas of planes and boats. Joseph was a ham radio operator, model train enthusiast and a card carrying numismatics member. When it came to sports, he was an avid Flyers and Eagles fan.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Apfl in August 2012 and brother, Robert Apfl. He is survived by his daughter, Joanna M. Anderson (Vincent) of Gainesville, FL.
