Jones Luther Mauldin's Obituary
Jones Luther Mauldin was born in Bowersville, Georgia on January 15, 1929. After a blessed life of 92 years, he went to be with Jesus on March 20, 2021.
In March of 1958, Jones and his wife, Billiejo Lee Mauldin (deceased 2017) moved to Gainesville to open Mauldin’s Auto Glass, Inc. During its 63 years as a small business serving Gainesville, he was able to employ over 60 people. Jones retired in
2000 to begin another season of his life. “Papa” as he was lovingly known to his family, was a former member of Parkview Baptist Church then First Baptist Church of Alachua. He loved playing golf, watching all Gator sporting events, spending time at the beach, and working in his yard. He would say his favorite past time and accomplishment was his family. He never missed a chance to encourage his Grandchildren and holding his Great Grandbabies brought a smile to his face. His family includes his wife – Jayne Hope-Mauldin; his children-Linda and Carlton Copeland; Sheila and David Harris; Jerry and Mary Mauldin and Jean Harris; his grandchildren and great grandchildren – Mollie and Steve Grote - Tucker and Granger; Jeremy and Rebekah Copeland - Sophie and Ellie; Benjamin Copeland; Sarah and Adam Langston - Marlee and Van; Thomas and Chelsea Harris - Stratton; Allison Harris; Holly and Cody Banner - Emma and Everett and his brother and sisters – Dan and Peggy Mauldin, Peggy Peterson, Myra Lueders and Betty Lee. Papa lived by example in his love for the Lord. This daily example, his love and encouragement to his family, and his belief in always serving the customer with a fair deal and a smile are some of the reasons we feel truly blessed.
The family honored him by sharing a private time together.
