Hello, Carole, Cathy, & Charlie,
I just learned of John’s passing, and I am so very sorry. If you can’t remember who I am or place me, our family lived next door to you in Gainesville (52nd Terrace) in the 70’s. I used to babysit during Gator games, and I still remember your dog Augie.
My husband and I moved back to Gainesville in 1991 (from California), and it was so nice to be close to my parents. Both are gone now. They had retired to Flagler Beach, and then Ormond Beach. If you ever make it to Flagler Beach, you can see they each have a memorial wooden plank in the pier.
I know what a wonderful man John was. I was just telling my husband how I had planted some watermelon seeds, and I had this scraggly vine growing up our fence. One day, we went out to find a full-grown watermelon sitting right below it! Of course, that was John. It sounds like he really had a knack for making people laugh, and I know we did!
I really feel for all of you right now. I’m glad you have each other to go through this very difficult time with. I wish you the best. 💔
Much love,
Stephanie Blume

I shall always remember John. Whenever you saw him you could count on him smiling, but you would be also! You left his presence always feeling better about yourself and the world. What a wonderful man!
My husband and I was newly weds when we met John in 1965. We went to Sears and John called us over to his desk (Allstate) and sold us a policy.....we remained his loyal customer for many years......once I was in an accident and John called to check on me and said remember don't get upset until you hear the bell ring! I laughed. John was a very special person to a lot of people always smiling......when I look up towards Heaven I will smile for John.
