John M. Monaco's Obituary
John M. Monaco, 89, joined his parents John and Mary, his brothers Daniel, Angelo, and Joseph, and his sisters Mary, Frances, Irene, and Julia in eternal rest on September 10, 2017, at Haven Hospice, during Hurricane Irma. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn; sons, John (Lisa) of Tampa, and Mark (Susan) of Rensselaer, NY; grandchildren, Jennifer of Schuylerville, NY, Jessica Monaco Alexander (Ross) of Philadelphia, Alexandra Monaco (Jesse Simonton) of Knoxville, TN, and John Jr. (Jonathan Borge) of New York City, and great granddaughter, Caroline Diane of Schuylerville, NY. He is survived also by nephews, James (Susan) of Naples, Daniel (Anne) of Naples, Paul (Victoria) of Boseman, MT, Robert Tucceri (Elaine) of Niskayuna, NY, Jeffrey Rowell (Maureen) of Yorktown, Virginia, and nieces, Marilyn Breyo (John) of Saratoga, NY, Carol Mandel of Schenectady, NY, Frances Wusterbarth (Mark) of Niskayuna, NY, Kathleen Woodin (Douglas) of Andes, NY, Susan Lazar (Andrew) of Plains, PA, Nancy Geiselmann-Hamil (James) of Reinholds, PA, Debra Dow (James) of Cooperstown, NY, and Linda Marvin (William) of Dillon, CO. He is preceded in death by nieces, Barbara Hardt and Judy Rowell, and nephew, Timothy Rowell.
He graduated from Mont Pleasant High School before earning Bachelors degrees from Siena College, in Biology, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in Engineering. He worked as an engineer for General Electric for 37 years, rising in management and recognized for his communication, problem solving and organizational skills. He was active in local government and politics serving as a Republican Committeeman for many years and also on the Niskayuna, NY town planning board.
All who knew this beautiful individual will attest to his quiet, yet determined and unconditional love. His gentle manner and infectious laughter will not soon be forgotten. A note of deep appreciation must be made from his family to the angels who assisted in his care: Dana, Khayman, Tammy, Cali and Elena
Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 5, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Community in Gainesville, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to the charity of your choice. A Memorial Service will also be held in Schenectady, New York at a later date.
