John Edward Finn's Obituary
John Edward Finn, age 91 of Gainesville, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2016. He was born June 6, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York to Gerard Vincent and May Keegan Finn.
He proudly served in the United States Marines during WWII at Iwo Jima. After his military service he graduated from NYU as a Mechanical Engineer. For over 20 years he worked as a Mechanical Engineer, and then he started his own business as a patent draftsman. He was a very active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his Wife, Kathryn Lucas; children, Reinette King (Cliff), Joseph Finn (Bonnie), Vincent Finn (Mary) and John Finn (Pat); four grandchildren, Kelly, Thomas, Emily, James and four great grandchildren, Angel, Eliza, Dean and Julie.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie and son, Walter.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave. with Fr. Jeff McGowan as celebrant. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street.
