John William Fedelem's Obituary
John William Fedelem, age 86 of Gainesville, FL entered peacefully into eternal life Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was born May 2, 1932 in New York, New York to Joseph and Margaret (Kunsch) Fedelem.
John had a wide-ranging career path that included positions as an aircraft mechanic in New York, a police officer and narcotics detective in Miami-Dade County, FL, a banker in the Gainesville area, and as an independent consultant and small business owner. He served in the U.S. Army, 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. He frequently volunteered in the community, dedicating many years to leadership positions in Boy Scouts of America and Order of the Arrow, where he impacted many lives for good. John was a gifted craftsman and enjoyed antique cars, airplanes, woodworking, gardening, camping, fishing and sharing his talents with his sons and grandchildren.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Daniel Fedelem, Michael Fedelem, William Fedelem and daughter-in-law Salli; niece, Jean Basford; grandniece Nicole (Dennis) Henry, brother-in-law, Tommy (Joyce) Abbott; grandsons, Kaleb and Logan and many friends and colleagues for whom he was always thankful.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Marsha; brother Joseph; sister Vilma, brother-in-law Joseph Marhan and granddaughter, Amber Fedelem.
Family will receive friends and loved ones Saturday, November 10, 2018, between 10:30 am and 12:00 pm, at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, and will hold a private service to honor John’s memory at a later time.
