John Collie Butler, Sr.'s Obituary
John Collie Butler, Sr., 76, longtime resident of Newberry, Florida, died Sunday, May 29, 2016, at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Butler was born on October 21, 1939, in Gainesville, to the late Stanford Hiram and Hazel Register Butler. As a young man, he joined the U. S. Army, where he completed his education. He worked his entire life as a plumber. Mr. Butler's one and only hobby was hunting. He was a member of Christian Life Fellowship in Newberry.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Butler; two daughters, Sharon Butler and Shannon Butler, both of Newberry; three sons, John, Jr., of Cross City; Robert “Bobby” (Terry), of Newberry, and Mark (Gloria), of Trenton; a brother, Mike (Darlene) Mullis, of Lake City; fifteen grandchildren, Jason, Julia, Jalyn, Jordan, Mariah, Miranda, Josh, Andrea, Amanda, Elden, Becky, Robin, Eli, Ian, and Alex. Twenty seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, at 2:00 P. M., in the Christian Life Fellowship, 19817 West Newberry Road, Newberry, with Pastor Gary Bracewell officiating. Interment will follow in Jonesville Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 3, 2016 from 5 to 7 P. M., at the WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry.
