John Anthony Brook, Sr.'s Obituary
John Anthony Brook Sr., age 77 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 in Shands UF Hospital. John was born April 29, 1938 in Nassau, Bahamas to Alva Woodrow and Dorothy Mae Albury Brook, the oldest of five boys. He was a very devout Catholic and overcame many obstacles. He worked in construction as a certified electrician and carpenter. John was quite the character and very charming. He thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren and their events.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Alva Woodrow Brook and Dorothy Mae Albury Brook. He is survived by his six children, John Anthony Brook, Jr., Danielle Brook, Michelle “Mikki” Daniels (Blayne), Dianna Brook, all of Gainesville, FL and Joshua Eric Brook and David Mark Brook, both of Miami, FL; four brothers, Lawrence Brook of Deltona, FL, William Brook of Miami, FL, Michael Brook of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Steven Brook of Destin, FL; five grandchildren, Shawn Thomas, Justin Thomas, Savannah McKenzie, Chelsea McRay and Noah Brook and six great grandchildren, Connor, Ella, Payten, Jacob, Jaxton and Hannah.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 28, 2016 at 9:30 a.m., at Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville, with Fr. Emmanuel Pazhayapurackal as celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Central. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the mass, beginning at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
