John Haywood Bogue's Obituary
John Haywood Bogue, 80, of Hawthorne, entered peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday, October 16, 2018.
A native of Putnam County and lifelong area resident, John was born on November 12, 1937. The son of Maxwell & Berniece Bogue, he was a graduate of Palatka High School. He attended the Davis & Elkins College (WV) and graduated with a BS degree from Carson Newman College (TN) in 1961.
John served in the USAF Air National Guard 125th Fighter Group from 1961 to 1967 and retired from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 after 33+ years of service.
A devoted Christian, he was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. He was a founding member of the New Cross Creek Baptist Church and served as its Vice President. He was also a very active participant in many mission projects.
He was a lover of nature and turned this love into successful business ventures by providing manatee, alligator, bird and many other displays to UF, the University of Tennessee, Cincinnati Zoo, Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, Cypress Gardens and the US & FL Fish and Game Commission. He most enjoyed many fishing, hunting and nature expeditions with his family.
Waiting to meet him in heaven are John's parents, sister, Martha Snedegar and her husband Paul and nephew, Maxwell Snedegar.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marcy, son John M. Bogue (Christi), daughter Leah Bogue-Harper (Andy), grandchildren Hayli, Hannah, Scarlet and Hazel, niece Jan Nash (Mark) and nephew Marshall Snedegar (Sandy).

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at New Cross Creek Baptist Church, 18921 S County Road 325, with Pastor Charles Litzell, Pastor L.D. O’Steen and Pastor Dan Blasiole officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery, Lochloosa. Family will receive friends Friday, October 26, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Hawthorne, 22205 SE 69th Avenue.
