Joel and I were good friends at East High School in Denver. I had little contact with him during his service in the Navy. In 1965, when I heard he was finally coming home, I contacted his parents and offered to have him room with me in the dormitory at CSU for his first year in college. That was a typical year of fun and laughs with Joel. The next year we both moved off campus. Joel ended up getting married, and I finally graduated.
Once he left for Arizona, and then, to South America, we had little contact over the next 50 years, but each time we talked it was like any great friendship, lots of stories, laughs, and memories of the days in school. That is the result of having a true friend. My heart goes out to the entire Stuart family. I too will miss him greatly, especially his humor. I know our faith will allow us to cross paths once again.
