Joanne Norma Hassell's Obituary
Joanne Norma Hassell, 72 (Joey or Joseyann) resided in Gainesville, FL at Magnolia Ridge Rehabilitation Center. She had recently moved to Gainesville from Apopka after a fall. She passed away Friday night 7-15-22 at North Florida Regional Medical Center from Septic shock. She had struggled over the past year with multiple illnesses.
Joanne was preceded in death by both her parents Homer Pershing Hassell and Estelle Smith Hassell and her brother Douglas Hassell
She has a daughter from her marriage to Jimmy Peavy. Jennifer Joanne (Hassell) Dorsey was adopted by Joanne’s parents and raised as her sister, however, they remained close over the years. Jennifer Dorsey is married to Raymond Dorsey and resides in Gainesville. Joanne was married several times, but most recently spent time with Conrad, a close friend, who helped her throughout the last 8 years.
Joanne graduated from Russell High School in East Point, GA.
She was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army.
She enjoyed acting in drama groups, doing crafts, word fill-in puzzles, listening to music and bingo.
A memorial will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Apostolic Church in Ocala, Florida. A separate memorial will be at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers please donate to the youth fund or humanitarian fund at the New Apostolic Church.
