Joan White's Obituary
Joan White, 92, died Saturday October 15, 2016 in Gainesville, Florida, after a stroke. She was born in Ohio, where her parents David and Florence Bevan had immigrated from Wales, and lived there for most of her childhood. The family returned to Wales briefly, but came back to Ohio before World War II began. During the War she worked as a telephone operator. She married Philip White in 1946 and they moved to Panama City, Florida, in 1950. From the early 50's, Phil and Joan organized square dancing and line dancing clubs in Panama City and Lynn Haven. They moved to Gainesville in 1977 and continued line dancing, which they taught at Trinity United Methodist Church.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband. She is survived by a son, Keith White, a daughter, Lynne Roberts, grandchildren Ian White, Marshal White, and Robyn Sekula and great-grandchildren Alice and Seth Sekula.
A memorial service will be held at the North Florida Retirement Village chapel, 8000 NW 27 Blvd, Gainesville on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
