Jerome Maston Rowe's Obituary
JEROME MASTON ROWE, age 75 of Alachua, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville. He was born October 5, 1943 Sylacauga, Alabama to John Maston Rowe and Vera Belle Downs Rowe.
Mr. Rowe, aka: U.J., is survived by his Sister, Serena Rowe Johnson; Nephew, Randle K. Webb; Niece, Sherri L. Webb (Dan); Great Nephew, David Ty Jones (Ashleigh); Great Nieces; Ayla L. Jones, Jamie McClanahan Muse, Brandi McClanahan Mejia; Great-Great Nieces and Nephews; Londyn and McKynzie Jones, Eli Morgan, Aria Muse, Lucius and Johnah Mejia, and dear Friend and Brother, Robert K. Webb.
Mr. Rowe served in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. During his tour he survived the USS Forrestal Fire of July 29, 1967. At the time, the USS Forrestal was engaged in combat operations in the Gulf of Tonkin, during the Vietnam War. U.J. received a National Defense Service Medal, and a Vietnam Service Medal – Bronze Star, a medal for bravery. After serving in the military, he worked and retired from AT&T, Ellisville, FL.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
