Jennifer Lyn Townsend's Obituary
Jennifer Lyn Townsend went peacefully to her heavenly home at E.T. York Haven Hospice on March 5, 2015, after a courageous 7 year battle with cancer, with her family by her side. She was born February 28, 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her beloved father, Timothy A. Townsend who greeted her in heaven with a warm welcome and big hug. She was “Jen” to her many friends and “Aunt Jen” to her nieces and nephew. Jen grew up in California, Maryland, Texas and Florida. Jen graduated from University of North Florida and worked for Target Corp. in Brandon, Florida before her health prevented her from working. She has lived in Gainesville with her mother for the past two years. She was a member of Oak Park Baptist Church. Her church family was a blessing as she faced her courageous battle and she showed strength that was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Although Jen lost her fight with cancer, God’s hands were with her throughout her courageous battle. She had many good friends and family and she was able to do some traveling. She loved Disney World and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed traveling to our National Parks. She especially enjoyed time spent with her nieces, Darby and Tara, and nephew, Doogan, as they experienced Disney and a trip to the Smoky Mountains this past summer and a Caribbean Cruise.
Jen was predeceased by her father, Timothy A. She is survived by her mother, Cynthia (Cindy); her brother, Timothy G. (Marlene), nieces, Darby and Tara and her nephew, Doogan. She loved traveling with her family and we all have fond memories and experiences. In the early years she was able to travel internationally. She loved her white cat, Sheba, which led to a tremendous collection of stuffed white cats and everything “Hello Kitty”.
A Celebration of Jennifer’s life will be held Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at Oak Park Baptist Church, with her beloved Pastor Danny Austin officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oak Park Baptist Church Building Fund, 4610 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, FL 32608.
