Jeannine V. Burton's Obituary
Jeannine V. Burton left to be with the Lord on August 27, 2023, surrounded by her Children in Gainesville, Florida. She was 93 years old.
Jeannine was born in Deepstep, Georgia, on May 15, 1930. She lived most of her life in Macon, Georgia, where she and her first husband of 38 years, Redmon R. Gainey, raised their three children, Julie, Kathy and Robert. After the death of Redmon, she married Connie Burton, to whom she was married for 15 years. Two years following Connie’s death Jeannine, then 82, moved to Gainesville, Florida, in 2012.
Jeannine was a member of the church of Christ for more than 70 years and was known for her constant service to others. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend. Jeannine was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and was renowned for cooking skills. She was a bank teller for more than 30 years.
After relocating to Gainesville, she was a member of the Glen Springs Road Church of Christ, where she became an active member well into her later years, until her health limited her activities. She remained mindful of spiritual things, often reading her bible and was a quiet example of a Godly woman to her family and others.
Jeannine was proceeded in death by her Parents, Royce Veal and Mildred (Young) Veal; her siblings, Katherine Gramling, Teressa Johnson, and Mabel Thomaston; her first husband, Redmon R. Gainey, and her second husband, Connie Burton.
She is survived by her brother, Wayland Veal and his wife, Bettye Veal; her three children: Julie Morris and her husband, Myke Morris; Kathy Ethridge and her husband, Keith Ethridge; Robert Gainey and his wife, Paula.
She is also survived by six grandchildren: Nathan Morris, Ariana Morris, Kristina (Ethridge) Shupert and her husband, Steve Shupert; Allie (Ethridge) Robinson and her husband, Michael Robinson; Jared Gainey and his wife, Kinley; Jenna (Gainey) Cutts and her husband, Ryan; and six great-grandchildren: Levi, Samuel and Felicity Robinson, Kyle Shupert, Redmon Gainey, and Clay Cutts.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023, at 1:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, with Minister Phil Robertson, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 P. M. Interment services will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 1:00 P.
